Welcome to the Helicopter Noise Coalition |
|
Anti-helicopters? How can we be? When we saw sturdy Sea Kings and their winchmen hauling the elderly and infirm from their flooded Gloucestershire homes in July 07, we could only applaud. Truth is, these essential flights are a minority of rotary-winged movements. If only they were silent.
Our website has been attracting registrations from helicopter noise-affected communities across the UK. |

Online Helicopter Noise Questionnaire |
|
We are in the process (August 2010) of developing this site to offer an online questionnaire, so those who are affected by helicopter noise can let us know the nature and extent of their problem. The questionnaire is currently in preparation. It is clear, from the responses received through this site, that there is a growing problem caused by noisy helicopter flights. In some cases these flights will be directly overhead, in other cases the noise nuisance may be from an adjacent Airfield, or `Private' landing site. Helicopters often fly at between 500 and 1500 feet height, and therefore cause noise nuisance along their entire flight path. This is in contrast to airliners - these usually have to follow `noise preferential routes', and the noise nuisance diminishes as they `climb out'. People affected by Helicopter noise have found they have no satisfactory means to complain, or adequate avenues to bring about improvements. There is currently no will or interest on the part of Local or Central Government to change the current situation, which is a completely unsatisfactory position. If you are experiencing helicopter noise and suffering annoyance from it, please get in touch with us - through the `Contact us' section of this website - with a brief description of your approximate location, and some information about the noise from helicopters in your location (frequency, type of helicopter, any complaints made and responses from the authorities etc). We will slowly build up a database to indicate where the main problems exist. |
